OKTOGON - ZECHE ZOLLVEREIN

FORTRESS2027 takes place at the Oktogon INTERARTES GmbH at Zeche Zollverein the UNESCO World Heritage Coal Mine Industrial Complex.

The OKTOGON was rewarded Best Event Location in 2014 already and has been the meeting venue for the past FORTRESS Essen meetings.

The building itself is the old cooling tower II of the Zollverein colliery and offers an extraordinarily open and interactive athmosphere in a culturally historic surrounding.

TRAVELING TO ESSEN

Due to our very central location you will be able to reach Essen easily via train, car or airplane. The city is connected to the national and international Autobahn network by the A40, A42 and A52.

If you choose to arrive by train, our central station Essen Hauptbahnhof (Hbf) should be your destination. From here you can easily connect to the innercity public transportation system (Ruhrbahn).

If you choose to travel by plane, you may choose to fly into FRA Frankfurt International Airport and conveniently connect to Essen via the Intercity Express ( ICE - 2 hour ride).

Alternatively the closest airports are:

DUS Düsseldorf Airport - 30min drive by car and / or train
CGN Köln/Bonn Airport - 60min drive by car / 90min by train
DTM Dortmund Flughafen- 45min drive by car / 50min by train
